Who are We? Who’s the Grump?

Most people that post about Disney are, like myself, a tad obsessed with the mouse.

This is me –>
I’ve been going to Disney World since I was 6 months old. I worked as a PhotoPass Photographer during the Disney College Program and have been visiting at least once a year since 1991. Our [delayed] honeymoon in November will mark my 40th Walt Disney World vacation. Anddddd I’ll only be 28. So, yes. I’m a little obsessed *ahem* experienced with the parks and the fandom.

Growing up taking Disney vacations so often, I always wondered what it would be like to see Disney from a … “normal” … person’s perspective (as my husband jokingly calls himself).

My husband’s name is Tyler. On Instagram, he’s “The Grump”(self-named, I should mention). His first trip to Walt Disney World was in 2017. Here’s a picture of him.

Happy about it? Isn’t he?

He really thought he’d hate it, but he promised to at least try, for me. Turns out, it wasn’t as awful as he thought.

We went through the typical “first timer” process. I forced a pin upon his shirt (he point-blank refused the ears) and drug him through the classics. Space Mountain, Big Thunder, Pirates, Haunted Mansion, Splash…okay this list might take forever. I’ll just make a blog post about it later.

Moral of the story? We did everything you were “supposed” to do. He liked a lot of it, but overall thought the Magic Kingdom was a little too “childish.” I know, blasphemy, right? But hey, that’s the point of this blog. To see how a non-obsessed-normal-adult-male views Disney World.

The Grump’s favorite park is EPCOT, because its “the least childish and has alcohol.” Haha. Hey, I love me some EPCOT too, and if there’s something out there that will entice the non-Disney-obsessed in my life to accompany me? I’m all for it.

Overall, my husband is very supportive of my “hobby.” (The Instagram name was even his idea). He knows how important Disney is to me. So, while he definitely doesn’t hold back on his opinion of things (stay tuned for those lol), he’s still a good sport and will try anything with me. He’s a real champ.

I thought it’d be a cool idea to show that not all couples on social media are picture perfect and in love with all things Disney. I hope you enjoy our adventures! Come back here and check out our Instagram account (@DisneyAndTheGrump) to see how even the non-Disney nerds can find something to love at Disney Parks!

And if you have any questions, comments, or want some advice on how to express your Disney love to the non-Disney in your life, we’re here for you! I hope you have a wonderful day!
